Highlights of WYSL Rule Changes and Clarifications - Spring 2009
The following summary highlights the WYSL rule changes and clarifications and certain key dates for Spring 2009. This summary is not complete and is qualified in its entirety by the actual rules set forth in the WYSL’s Handbook, to which reference is made.
Updates and Seasonal Changes
Roster Changes. Article I.2.C. Deadline for roster changes and additions is the third game of the season (May 3, changes must be made by May 1).
Silent Sunday. Article IV(6). This season, Silent Sunday will be in effect for the games to be played on May 10, 2009, the fourth scheduled Sunday of the season.
Scheduling of TBS Games. Article X.3. TBS games must be scheduled before the third game of season.
Permanent Changes/Clarifications (minor changes omitted)
Registration of Tournament Team Players. Article I.2.I.4. The registration fee has been increased to $25 due to an increase in the insurance premium.
Suspended Players. Article II.13. The rule has been clarified to provide that suspensions apply to the next League match, and that the player may sit on the bench with his or her teammates out of uniform.
Seeding – Moving Up in Age. Article IX.1.B. The rule regarding premier teams in the younger age groups that are comprised of players from multiple communities has been clarified to make clear that such teams will not be seeded in the U9 or U10 non-competitive age groups, irrespective of the actual ages of the players.
Make-Up Procedure – Two Reasonable Dates. Article X.3.A. The rule has been changed to provide that if the home team fails to timely provide two reasonable dates and times for the make-up game, the away team may request to provide reasonable dates and times and to become the home team for purposes of the rule, subject to the discretion of the League Registrar.
Tournament Hosting Instructions. Article XII.4. Updated to reflect online procedures.
Reminders and Key Dates
Commencement Date for Spring Open Tryouts. Article I.2.J.1. The first day that spring open tryouts are permitted will be the Tuesday after Memorial Day (May 26, 2009).
Fall Registration Period. Club registrations for the Fall season are due in the League office by July 10, 2009
